5 content ideas to kick off 2023

January is the perfect time of year to start increasing your brand’s visibility and coming up with fresh content ideas that are going to really connect and engage with your customers. For many small business owners though, creating content can feel like a burden, just another job on your to do list that there’s never enough time for. That’s why I’ve put together five simple content ideas to get you started in 2023.

1. Are you up for a challenge?

Why not host a social media challenge or competition to engage with your audience and generate user-generated content? For example, a “New Year, New You” challenge where participants share their goals and progress throughout the month. Any kind of challenge or contest could work, so take some time to think about what would be the best fit for your business and what’s likely to be a hit with your ideal client.

2. Make a list

We all love a list, so get creative and come up with a list of industry trends and predictions for the new year and share this with your audience. This can help position your brand as an expert in your field and provide valuable information to your ideal client. This idea works particularly well for product based businesses and those in sectors such as fashion, beauty and hospitality. Get your thinking cap on and share your predictions for 2023! You can also ask your audience to share their views too and make this one even more interactive.

3. Create a special offer

Offer a limited-time discount or promotion to kick off the new year and encourage sales. This can be a great way to boost revenue and attract new customers too. Everyone loves a bargain, particularly in the current economic climate, so sharing a new promotion can help to create a sense of urgency and FOMO.

4. Write a blog series

Create a series of blog posts or videos focused on helping your audience achieve their goals in the new year. This can be a great way to provide value and establish your brand as a helpful resource. Whatever industry you’re based in, there will be a topic out there that will make a perfect blog series. As a copywriter I could write a series based around SEO or even the benefits of blogging. If you’re an accountant, you could focus a series around the recent tax changes and how they impact small businesses, a homeopath might want to write a series around the benefits of specific herbs. Whatever you decide to blog about, remember to create content that is going to be helpful and informative for your ideal client.

5. Share success stories

Sharing success stories or case studies from your existing customers helps to showcase the value of your products or services and build trust with your audience. Ask your current clients or customers for testimonials that you can share on your website, socials or even in your newsletter and get sharing!
